Welcome to another week of: Saar loves the Top 5 Wednesday-prompts. In this special edition, I actually manage to get one written! For this last week of September, the prompt was to list 5 books that you read because of Booktube, blogging, etc. Now, as I started my journey into the book community on Tumblr, I figured it was only right I try and do that platform honour to. My solution: for each of the 5 platforms where I’d consider myself part of that? I choose one book where the book community made me read it! 1. Booklr: Anna and the French Kiss When this series was completely published, it was all over Tumblr. I think I even won the first one in a giveaway from one of my favourite booklr-accounts! As far as fluffy reads go, this one is probably a hit. Although I have to admit: as time as gone on, there’s definitely some things I’m not 100% okay with anymore… 2. Goodreads: The Next Together It took me ages to finish this book, but as soon as I had, I wanted to start again. I’m postponing reading the sequel for now, mainly because I know I need my focus for these. I do have it ready though, and I really can’t wait to get to it! 3. Booktube: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe I mean, my review of this one probably says it all, right? But yes, this is, as far as I can remember, the fist book I read because of youtube. So there’s that 🙂 4. Book-twitter: When Dimple Met Rishi I have to admit that, at this point, Twitter is probably one of my least favourite places for bookrec’s right now, because it’s filled with negativity. And I don’t mean just like negative vibes, there seem to be entire clanwars being fought. As someone who’s priviliged on at least 2 of the 4 major breaking points (sex, race, sexuality & gender, mental health), it’s often not my place to really say anything. This one, however, is one of those books that the entire book community on Twitter seemed to be going absolutely crazy over. And you know what? I totally get that. Because this was cute, written by someone from the very culture she was writing about, and ultimately just a really pleasant read! 5. Bookstagram: Fangirl Now I wasn’t even on Instagram yet when I read this book. However, I’ve come to realise that I don’t necessarily go to Instagram to find books I want to read. Books I want to put on my shelves? Absolutely! I did re-read this one like 4 times because I came across it on Instagram, though. So at least there’s that 🙂 And there you have it, 5 books I read because of the book community! It might have surprised you that there’s no blogs on here. But honestly, I mainly read reviews to know whether I’ll like a book another medium already got me interested in.
