So, for all that I’m constantly talking about books on this blog, I feel like I haven’t really been paying enough attention to one series in particular that I really enjoyed reading: Percy Jackson and the Gods of Olympus. This tag features one question for each of the gods / characters from this series (and its follow up series!) and I felt like today would probably be a good day to do a book tag – Greek Mythology Style! Small note, though: because this tag is so long, I decided to cut it in two. The first half, you’ll get today – the second part is coming up tomorrow! Gods of Olympus Zeus / Jupiter: God of the Sky and Thunder / King of the Gods Favourite book (choose your own category!) For this one, I decided to go with best last book in a series. You know, the book that many people don’t even get to anymore, because they’ve already given up on the series by that time? And in this case, I couldn’t help but think that maybe I should not go for the obvious, and leave Harry Potter to the side… Naturally, that made it quite hard for me to actually find a book I loved equally as much. Eventually, though, I started thinking about Philip Pullman’s series His Dark Materials. While the last book is almost maddeningly complicated, it also offers such an amazing way to tie up all knots. And, unlike some other series, it doesn’t end up falling flat. And also, The Amber Spyglass is just an amazing book, regardless of the fact that it’s the last part of a series! Poseidon / Neptune: God of the Seas and Earthquakes Book that drowned you in feels Oh my god, there’s so many that I could write down here. Like, I bawled in pubic when I finished The Book Thief. When I read All the Bright Places, I was just plain old sobbing. In the end, though, I think I’m going to have to go with Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, just because there was more than just all the feels. There was also this feeling of: OMG, that’s me. And that just made it all the more right in the feels for me, you know? Hades (Pluto): God of the Underworld Favourite book with a dark / ominous plot I was going to say Twilight, but that’s not a favourite of mine in any way or form. I guess I’ll just have to go with The Next Together, by Lauren James. The dark and ominous bit comes largely from the fact that it just seems as if all of the plot could actually be happening in real life, and… Well… Just – no. Hera (Juno): Goddess of Marriage and Family Cutest fictional couple You’re really going to make me choose? Either the main characters from Fangirl, Cath and Levi, or Aristotle and Dante, or Mr Darcy and Elizabeth, or, or, or… Seriously, I have to choose? Athena (Minerva): Goddess of Wisdom, Handicraft and Strategic Warfare Series with the best world-building So, for one, Harry Potter. Because obviously. Then, Narnia. Because, you know what? Those worlds are amazing. Aphrodite (Venus): Goddess of Love and Beauty Most beautiful cover on a 2017 release I don’t even know that I want to read this one, but it’s just so gorgeous! Ares (Mars): God of War and Bloodshed Most violent book you’ve ever read I honestly don’t know – but that’s mainly just because I’m normally not really that eager to read anything with violence in it. So honestly: I can’t think of any…. Hephaestus (Vulcan): God of Blacksmiths and Fire Scorching hot swoon worthy character Nevil Longbottom. And Steven Gherring from Her Best Match – he’s just adorable and handsome and everything 🙂 Artemis (Diana): Goddess of the Hunt and Virginity Favourite Kick-Ass Heroine Hermione Granger. Ginny Weasley. Luna Lovegood. Annabeth Chase. Piper McLean. And so many, many more. Phoebus Apollo (Apollo): God of Light and Healing Sequel book that redeemed its series Quite frankly, if I don’t like the first book I very rarely, if ever, will continue the series. So most likely, I just haven’t gotten to the sequel book that would have redeemed any series… Hermes (Mercury): Messenger God of Thieves and Commerce Book with the best message So many of them 😮 But one of the books that stuck with me most, lately, that has an amazing message, would definitely have to be Have a Little Faith. I even reviewed it a little while back, absolutely gushing about it! Hestia (Vesta): Goddess of the Hearth and Home Book with the most relatable story Right now, my first thought would definitely have to be Fangirl, the whole college thing, fandom girl, and, I don’t know… Just really relatable to me, especially! Demeter (Ceres): Goddess of Fertility and Agriculture Favourite bookish setting A setting to read a book? My sofa, or my bed… A setting in a book? Absolutely Hogsmead. Also, Narnia – I want to go there 😮 Dionysus (Bacchus): God of Wine and Celebration 2017/2018 releases you are most anticipating The newest Cathy Kelly, the newest Jill Mansell. Always those two. I mean, those are really some of the books that I will always be looking forward to, you know? Anyways, those are my answers to this first part of the Book Survey: Greek Mythology Style!
