Weekly Lists #78: Book series you wish had more books

I’m back to taking my inspiration from Top 5 Wednesday, the Goodreads Group that has bookish prompts for every single Wednesday. Although, let’s be honest – I’m complaining about series not having enough books quite often anyways J Either way, this one was originally posted for the 26th of August 2015 – I’m a bit late to the game, I know. None the less, here are 5 book series that ended too soon!

1.Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling

Let’s just get this one over with, shall we?

Long story short: I need more books, so I’m constantly reading fanfiction. Because, you know, more stuff happening to the characters, yay!

(Also, yes, I do know that there technically are more books coming out now, what with Fantastic Beasts and everything. But, you know, it’s not the original characters L)

2. Narnia, C.S. Lewis

Another one that probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone anywhere ever, but, you know… It bears repeating.

This series basically had the perfect ending, well-rounded and everything. But I still was left craving more contact with the characters. What about all the animals and creatures in Narnia? And Aslan? What about Susan? I need more info on Susan! What happened to her? How did she do in the world? Did she end up, in the long run, with her family? Seriously, I need more info on Susan!

3. The Chronicles of Dalemark, Dianne Wyne Jones

I feel like, in general, this series didn’t get enough attention. Then again, it was completely finished before Facebook was really a thing, I think… So maybe I just completely missed the buzz? Either way, I have to admit that this series came to a perfect ending. The three first books all found a sort of “conclusion” in the last one, The Crown of Dalemark. Nonetheless, I need more. I loved the mythology that was built up through the first book, and, you know… More mythology is a good thing, right?

4. Anything by Astrid Lindgren

Sure, most of Astrid Lindgren’s work is currently usually published per story. However, originally Pippi Longstocking, Bulderbury’s Children and all those characters? They had several books (and sometimes even some short stories!) dedicated to them. Each.

And the world could probably do with some more Pippi Longstocking, right?

5. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Ann Brashares

Now, let’s be clear. We kinda did get more books for this series. And it completely, utterly broke me.

That ending was not okay, okay?

That being said, I so want to know what happened to the other girls after that 5th book? After the incredibly sad, how did the happy go?

And I guess that could be taken as a conclusion, or a reason, for all of these. I tend to fall completely in love with the characters of books I read. And every time I have to step out of that world for the last time? It kind of breaks my heart. Because I’m not just done with the world, in a way I’m also done with the characters. And I’m really bad at saying goodbye.

Did you have that same feeling of dangit, I need more for any of these series? Or do you have any other series that you totally think could use some more books? Be sure to let me know below!
