So, this happened:
Yes, that is (or was, I should say) my hair.
You see, I’m one of those people that grows tired of their hair quite easily. In the last 10 or so years I’ve gone from really long hair, to the shortest ones hair can be and still be considered a bob, to really long layers, to blunt bangs, back to really long layers, etc.
One constant? I always dislike my current cut after a bit, and then decide to grow it out.
Of course, the minute my hair is actually long enough that it starts to resemble those beachy waves I grow tired of that, and cut it off again.
A couple of months ago, a friend of mine told me that she had decided to grow out her hair so she could donate it to this cause called “Geef om Haar” (Care about Hair). What they do is, basically, collect hair from people who have donated it, so that they can make wigs for people who have lost/are losing their hair due to chemotherapy and related treatments of cancer.
At that point, I was still in the process of growing my hair longer, but I already was pretty sure that, as usual, the minute it actually grew halfway past my back, I’d want to do something different with it again.
So I figured: why not? I might as well get some good out of all the waiting I’ve done in order for it t grow long enough for me to cut it off again?
So I did – and today, I went from this:
And quite frankly – I love it, I got my hair cut for half the usual price (apparently many of the hairdressers who work for/with this organisation offer a discount on the actual cutting of your hair), I got a great new cut, ànd I actually did a ‘good deed’ – I’d say that’s pretty okay for a day’s work, no?
You can find all information on where and how to donate as well on this site: Geef om Haar
