Booktags #19: Mid Year Book Freak Out
The year is over halfway done so it’s time to reflect back. Now, sure, I talked about 5 of my favorite books last post – but, of course, there’s way to more to reading than just my favorites. And this mid year book freak out? That’s what this is for!
1. Best book you’ve read so far?
The Secret History, Donna Tart.
Yeah, I know – this book isn’t even on my post of favorite books of 2018. Oops? But honestly, I really loved this book, I sat there staring in front of me for approximately 15 minutes after turning the last page and just… It’s amazing.
2. Best sequel you’ve read so far?
The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One, Amanda Lovelace
Just check out my review for all the reasons 🙂
3. New releases you haven’t read yet, but want to?
30 Before 30; The Late Bloomers’ Club; Running With Lions; …
Basically, any of the books on my new releases series that I haven’t got to yet…
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of 2018?
The paperback version of both Cathy Kelly‘s and Jill Mansell‘s books.
At least I’m staying on brand, right? :p
5. Biggest disappointment?
Voor het Zeggen – it was okay, just… I feel like the story could maybe have been handled better?
6. Biggest surprise?
Again: The Secret History – which is probably why it turned out to be my favorite read so far?
7. Favorite new author?
Holly Bourne – I’d never read any of her work before and now I’m 4 in and I have at least one more at the ready on the Kindle app on my phone. Her work is good.
8. Newest fictional crush?
None – strangely, I’ve been reading less romance lately?
9. Newest favorite character?
Probably Evie from “Am I Normal Yet”. Just because I really admire her resilience throughout the story.
10. Book that made you cry?
“De Tragedie van Swerthout-Wittebeek“. That last death, just… Ugh
11. Book that made you happy?
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. It was amazing.
12. Favorite book to movie adaptation you saw this year?
I’ve not watched any movie adaptations this year, so nothing for this one 🙂
13. Favorite review you’ve written this year?
Probably my review of Waker (Watcher) just because it was a book so far away from what I’d been reading lately?
14. Most beautiful book you bought so far?
Again Waker (Watcher) – the cover is beautiful.
15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
All the books. But specifically: THUG and any book I’ve owned for longer than a year? Also, all the books that were on my new releases-lists. I have got to get better at actually reading those 🙂
And there you have it, that’s my “Mid Year Book Freak Out”! How have you been doing with your reading so far? Be sure to let me know below!
