Weekly Lists #161: 5 New Year’s Quotes to Start the Year Right
Those of you that have been following this blog for a while, know that I have a certain love for fun quotes. The inspiring kind. The literary kind. Just about any kind, really. And at the start of 2017, I decided to use that love to the fullest, to start the year off with some new year’s quotes that would set me on the right foot. Naturally, I couldn’t just do that once. No, I’ve come across enough posts by now that, well… I want to do it again. So let’s start the year in citations!
1. John Burroughs
“One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this — To rise above the little things”
2. Edith Lovejoy Pierce
“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”
3. Bill Vaughan, The Kansas City Star
“An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.”
4. Lord Alfred Tennyson
“Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, Whispering ‘it will be happier’…”
5. Maria Robinson
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
And with that I’ll leave you to it – Happy New Year!
