Weekly Lists #45: Favorite Editions
So you know those books, those specific editions, the ones that are so pretty you don’t even really want to read them, but you just want to own them?
Just to put them on your shelves and to be able to look at it? Admire them from afar, if you will?
Here’s 5 of my favourites!

1. Collector’s Library
Not only are these some of the only really ‘pretty’ collections I actually own (because I do still have to buy a large majority of my books becase I really really want to read them, not because I think they look pretty, but these ones were pretty) but they are just plain old gorgeous. The outside of the pages is lined with gold, they’re actually really small (and as such, fit into just about every purse I own – which doesn’t happen a lot) and they make me feel like I’m holding a luxury product, basically!
2. Barnes & Nobles Leatherbound Editions
Now, of course there’s more than just all of the Jane Austen novels in one BOOK (although, how awesome is that??), but I just happen to think that that one is probably one of the most beautiful ones of an entire collection that is just plain old gorgeous. Seriously, go check them out – they have so many classics in such amazing editions, it gives me shelve-envy to anyone that does have the honor of owning them!
(Also, just about all of Barnes & Nobles’ special editions are gorgeous, so definitely go check all of them out!)
3. Puffin Hardcover Classics
I’m not even going to bother to say too much about this because, let’s face it, I love me some amazing classics in very, very, very pretty cloth bound covers and these ones basically just make me drool.
‘nuf said!
4. The Puffin in Bloom Collection
I mean, come on! The floral pattern! The way the cover art fits the books themselves! The colour-full-ness (is that even a word?)
Right now, I only know about 4 works which have been published in these editions, but I’m definitely holding out, hoping for more!
5. Individual books
Of course, there’s always those books that are just so gorgeous but there’s only one like it. Two of my favourites? Ballet Shoes, by Noel Streatfeild:
And Beatrix Potter’s The Complete Tales, which I spent an entire post raving about:
So there you have it – 5 of my favourite editions? What other beautiful editions would you guys recommend? Be sure to let me know below!
