2018 Reading Updates: August Update

August is always a bit of a weird month for me, reading-wise. While I have a lot of free time – in theory? I tend to end up not reading that much at all. I don’t know why… But there you have it, it was true again this time… I read *only* 9 books. I.e. the smallest number of books I’ve read in a month this year. So let’s get into this reading updates – august update!

What I read

  • The Manifesto on How To Be Interesting, Holly Bourne
  • The Son of Sobek, Rick Riordan
  • The Staff of Serapsi, Rick Riordan
  • The Crown of Ptolemy, Rick Riordan
  • Harry: Conversations with a Prince, Angela Levin
  • Turtles All The Way Down, John Green
  • Dreaming of Christmas, T.A. Williams
  • It Started with Paris, Cathy Kelly
  • The Letter for the King, Tonke Dragt

What I thought

Here’s the thing – I only read a (for me, at least) very limited amount of books this month. That being said, there’s one 5-star in there and like 6 4-stars… I guess I kind of went for quality over quantity?

What’s even better – I got to go back to some old favourites. I always loved the Percy Jackson-series, but for some reason I hadn’t really thought about it in a while. Then, when I got my first library card at my new place at the beginning of this month? I basically happened across them and went to the three short stories in half a day? Or something like that? Either way – the bf got the message, because for my birthday he gave me the box set for both Percy Jackson and the Olympians ànd for Heroes of Olympus!

Another old favourite: A Letter to the King. I first read this when I was 8 or 9, and now I got a chance to read the English version… You guys – it’s so amazing! The version I read is coming out on September 4th and I honestly cannot recommend it enough!

Honestly, even if I do wish I had read some more than I actually did? I’m really happy with August as far as my reading goes! What books have you been enjoying lately? Be sure to let me know below!
