Weekly Lists #195: Hyped 2019 Releases I Don’t Care About
Another weekly list blatantly inspired by Top 5 Wednesday – but hey, if I’m ever in need of some inspiration, they always have my back! Also, this is not meant to drag any books, it’s just that, well… Some hyped 2019 releases? I just genuinely don’t care about… And why always be positive – if you can be negative instead!
1. The Silent Patient
This one has such great ratings, and so many people reading and loving it… And yet, every single time I come across it? Or I see yet another person stating how much they enjoyed this book? Something in me just goes “nope, thanks”. I honestly don’t even really know why, but there you have it none the less… (Goodreads)
2. The Starless Sea
Considering how much I loved The Night Circus, by the same author, you might expect that I’d be really excited to read this book. However, in reality, my love for TNC seems to have had something of an opposite effect. How could anything ever top my love for TNC? And why would I want to risk spoiling my experience with that one, by risking reading this one? Don’t worry – I’m fully aware that logic doesn’t make any sense. But there you have it, none the less… (Goodreads)
3. The Institute
Honestly, this is more about my relationship with this entire genre than it is about Stephen King’s latest in particular. You see, I scare easily. So why on earth would I want to further inspire my imagination… When it’s so good at what it does already? Honestly! (Goodreads)
4. Finale
In general, many people seem to be of the opinion that, if you liked The Night Circus? You will also like the Caraval series. Alternately, just as many people seem to think that you will only like one or the other – and in my case, I loved The Night Circus. So why take the risk, right? Also – do I have the emotional and temporal space right now, to get overly invested in a series? Probably not. Best to just pass on it, then, right? (Goodreads)
5. The Testaments
This one in particular I feel like is probably blasphemy to many people. Because, you know… It’s The Handmaid’s Tale, how can you not love it? Only, I’ve never read the first book, never watched the series, and – again – I don’t need fiction to further convince me of all the things that could possibly go wrong. And if I’m being completely honest? I’m just not that much of a lover of the whole dystopian thing anymore… (Goodreads)
Anyways, those are just 5 of the books I’m not really that bothered about being published this year. Undoubtedly, I could go. But then again, that’s more to do with me and my tastes in books, than with anything else, right? So tell me – what hyped 2019 releases do you just *not* care about? Be sure to let me know below!
