Book Tags #6: The Book Courtship Tag

And I’m back at it again with the book tags! This Book Courtship Tag, though, just seemed like so much fun when I first came across it on A Booklover’s Playlist… I just couldn’t not do it!

The idea is simple: we all tend to fall in love with books. So here’s a tag that describes exactly how that’s done.

Phase 1: Initial attraction

A book that you bought because of the cover?

This one just has to be Beatrix Potter’s The Complete Tales! I’d never really felt any need to own her work until I came across this gorgeous edition while in England two years ago. And quite frankly – I haven’t regretted buying it since!

Phase 2: First impressions

A book that you got because of the summary?

Just about any book by Cathy Kelly, really. She writes just about the best chicklit ever, and every single summary makes me want to read her books. Seriously – it introduces you to just enough characters, it leaves enough to the imagination, … What more could I want?

Phase 3: Sweet Talk

A book with great writing?

Probably the most beautifully written book I’ve ever read… Never Let Me Go. Not only does that story just really grab you, the writing has you sucked into it before you even know it. It’s basically poetry.
(I mean, not really, but you know what I mean)

Phase 4: First Date

A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?

The Selection, surprisingly. As I already mentioned in August’s Reading Challenges Update, I didn’t actually expect to like it at all. And then suddenly I’d read 9 of the 10 books in approximately 1.5 days’ time.

Oops?

Phase 5: Late Night Phone Calls

A book that kept you up all night?

I Was Here, by Gayle Forman.
Looking back, I kinda wish I hadn’t stayed up all night – because 3 a.m. is really not the moment you should be asking life-questioning-questions – but I just couldn’t put it down…

Phase 6: Always on my mind

A book you could not stop thinking about?

Harry Potter.
Of course.
I mean, is anyone even the slightest bit surprised?
I’m still reading fanfiction about it!

Phase 7: Getting Physical

A book which you love the way it feels?

Any book that has a dust cover – the moment you take the dust cover off. Seriously, there’s just something about those clothed covers that has me absolutely melting!

Phase 8: Meeting the Parents

A book which you would recommend to your family and friends?

The Next Beginning – and it’s almost time to read the sequel!

Phase 9: Thinking about the future

A book or series you know you will re read many times in the futur?

Anything by Astrid Lindgren – those are my go-to feel better books 🙂

Phase 10: Share the love

Who do you tag?

Anybody who feels like it, basically!

If you did (already) do this tag, be sure to let me know below!
