Tags #3: The Christmas Tag
So this year, I decided to make my month of December extra hard. Because every single day, up to and including Christmas, I will be posting one blog. The subject can range from gift ideas to favourite songs – but posted it will be. Now, one thing that just had to be included in here was, of course, a tag. The Christmas Tag, to be more specific!
I came across this tag on the Enthusiast Blog and I just sort of went YES. So, you know… You’re welcome?
1. What is your favourite Christmas film?
My favourite all-round holiday film is definitely The Sound of Music, but that’s not really a Christmas film, is it?
I guess, if I’d have to choose one, it would probably be White Christmas. If nothing else, then just because I feel like it’s probably the most ultimate Christmas film ever. For the more modern movies, I’d probably have to go with The Holiday. (If you’re interested, I discussed my love for that one in depth in last year’s Christmas movies-post!)
2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?
Not that I remember – we’ve had a couple of close calls, but for as far as I can remember, the snow either melted the day before Christmas Eve, or only really started two days later…
The weather gods aren’t with me on this one 🙁
3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
At home, with my family – and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the holidays!
4. What is your favourite Christmas song?
Oh Holy Night. No doubt about it.
Especially this version:
5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
We have this whole system where we spend Christmas Eve with just the closest family and we all give our gifts to each other – so of course, we get to open those!
Then, on Christmas day, we have a celebration with the bigger family.
6. Can yo name of all Santa’s Reindeer?
I can name some? Dancer, Prancer, Dasher, Rudolph, Vixen…
I just looked it up, apparently the other 3 are Cupid, Comet and Donner. Oh well, you learn something new every day?
7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
Well, I already put up my Christmas tree, so that is definitely a big one. My advent calendar is another thing that I can spend a good portion of the year looking forward to. And of course, the general atmosphere! (is that even a tradition? If not, here are some more of my favourite holiday traditions!)
8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
At home, it’s a real one, every single year. This is actually the first year I have a Christmas tree of my own. That one is a fake one – but that’s mainly because I’m just a poor student, and I think of it more as an investment.
9. What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?
Anything chocolate. Also, I’m just a huge foodie in general, so everything?
10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
Giving. Absolutely. You can ask anybody who knows me – I literally start preparing for this in June, because I want to get it right. And give people the dreamgift they didn’t even know they wanted!
11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I don’t really know? I guess, in general, I just love the fact that people took the time to think of something they wanted to give to me?
If I’d have to choose, though, I’d probably go with my e-reader – if nothing else, than just because it made reading a bunch of books so much easier!
12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Hogwarts.
Need I say more?
13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
Absolute pro – and I have a post coming up on that in a bit!
14. Most memorable Holiday moment?
This would probably have to be the first time we went to England during the Holidays. It was winter, it was really, really cold, we were all nice and cuddled up, we were in Hull on a big place, and there was The Sound of Music being played, live, on a big screen.
I still smile when I think back to it, it really did feel like we were standing in the middle of “Christmas place-ified”.
15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?
Santa isn’t actually really all that big of a thing in Belgium? We do, however, have Sinterklaas (can you see the resemblance in terms?). He is celebrated the 6th of December, he was the original inspiration for Santa Clause (seriously, just look it up! and he brings toys to many kids in Europe.
I don’t really remember “realizing” the truth about Sinterklaas, but I do remember sitting in the car with my parents and asking them “the Easter Bunny isn’t real, right?” (because for some reason, we do have the Easter Bunny…)
Anyways, I sort of just deduced that if the Easter Bunny wasn’t real, Sinterklaas probably wasn’t either, and that was that, really.
16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
Yes! And I try to stick to them, but just like the majority of the world, that tends to be without all too much succes…
17. What makes the holidays special foryou?
All together? Probably just the general atmosphere. The fact that I know I’ll be seeing more of my family during that period. That I get to be home a bit more often. The fact that it’s in winter (and I loooooove the colder days!)
I find that really hard to explain, actually – just everything, I guess!
So, there you have it, that’s my response to the Christmas Tag! If you’ve already done this one, be sure to leave me the link below. If you haven’t, feel free to consider yourself tagged – and leave me your replies as well!
Also, don’t forget to come back tomorrow for the next post in my blog-mas 2016 series, and check out my other Christmas-posts as well!
