#InLoveAThon 2020 TBR
It’s almost Valentine and you know what that means! It’s time for this year’s #InLoveAThon! And because I’m in a bit of a reading slump and desperately need to get myself out of that… And because, you know, romance, in general, is my most-read genre… Well, what better way than to kickstart all of that, than with this #InLoveAThon 2020 TBR?
Now, there’s slightly less challenges this year than there were when I last participated. That’s to say – you only need to pick one “route”, and then you read the books on that particular path. So, naturally, me being me? I’ve decided not to limit myself to one path yet, and to just set up a TBR for every single one of them. Ambitious? Yes. But I have just about nothing else to do this week, so I’m trying to see how far I can push myself 🙂
Level 1: Read Your Favourite Trope
Well, here’s some good news at least: I’ve finally determined what my favourite trope is. Or, well – tropes. And are. There’s two, naturally. The first is fake dating – because it’s just so good! The second? Enemies to lover. You don’t even want to know how many fanfictions I’ve read with that exact trope this past month!
For fake dating, I might just reread The Kiss Quotient – because, well… Reasons 🙂 If I chose to do enemies to lovers, though, I would go with The Unhoneymooners. Because, again – reasons. Those reasons mainly being that I have the book lying right next to me, where it’s been for actual months, ready to be my next read!
Level 2: On the cover
The second level is where you have to start making choices – in this case, either between a book with red, or a book with “love” on the cover. Now, I’m taking the liberty of re-interpreting “love” as anything that classically is meant to indicate love… Hearts, cupid, etc. Which is good, because that means my last read, A Dozen Second Chances counts for both! And I finished it just after midnight today, so technically it counts!
Level 3: Adapt
This is where it gets tricky – because now? There’s four options. One of them, I know I’m not going to be able to do – just because I don’t have a buddy to read with (don’t worry, I’m aware of how utterly sad that sounds :p)
The other three options, though? Those might be an option. For a friend’s recommendation, I’m currently reading The Neighbours – one challenge done!
As for the books and fairy tales and their screen adaptations, I could go about a gazillion different ways. Most likely, though, I will read a Jane Austen-book for the book, and a Disney classic for the fairy tale. I’m thinking Sense and Sensibility (with the Emma Thompson-movie) and Cinderella (with the Lily James-adaptation? Or A Cinderella Story! Or the one with Whitney Houston! The possibilities are virtually endless!)
Level 4: Almost there!
Here’s the good thing – my two favourite tropes? Also the favourite tropes of some of the hosts. So whichever book I don’t read for the first level, I will read for this one.
Hosts’ Favourite Tropes | Hosts’ Book Recommendations |
Cristina: Famous/Normal Couple (royalty included) Chelsie: Antihero Romance Vanessa: Friends to Lovers Hannah: Fake Dating Melissa: Hate to Love | Cristina: The Winner’s Curse Hannah: PS I like you by Kasie West Melissa: North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell Vanessa: Dead Queen’s Club by Hannah Capin Chelsie: Wicked Fox by Kat Cho |
As for the hosts’ book recommendations… I would like to be the type of person that goes: oh, I’ll read North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. However. I had to read that one in uni, and that basically ruined the book for me. So, realistically? That would probably be either The Winner’s Curse or PS I Like You. At least I’ve quite enjoyed everything I’ve read by Kasie West so far!
Reading with a Valentine’s Day Treat, I have covered – I went on a bit of a chocolate-buying spree this weekend, so I certainly won’t have any problem finding a good treat to munch on. As for book bae – I don’t actually know that I have one, but should I still have enough time by the time I get to this point of the week? I’m sure I’ll manage to figure something out 🙂
Anyways, that’s that for my #InLoveAThon 2020 TBR – and now, well… It sure looks as if I have some reading to get done, right? 🙂 Happy reading everyone!
