What I thought

One of the things I promised myself a couple of years ago, was that I wouldn’t force myself to keep reading a book if I really didn’t enjoy it. And while it’s not happened too often, I did get a chance to *practice what I preach* this month. While I really loved the premises ofย Carnegie Hill, I had to face the facts after I’d gone back to it for the 7th time and, well… Basically still couldn’t muster up any enthusiasm for the actual book.

The opposite was true forย I’ll Give You The Sun – I’d had that book ready forย years, and yet I never actually could get around to reading it. And then I let the bf choose me a book (in trying to diminish my TBR :p ) and I flew through it in two days. It was kind of funny, in a way – the last book I read in January (The Time Traveler’s Wife) and the first one I read in February both made me cry. I wonder if the books are trying to tell me something :p

I also got a week off school, during February, and in that time frame, I reread the entireย Malory Towers-series. It’s one of those Enid Blyton-classics that I keep going back to, and this time too, it turned out to be just the comforting, relaxing read I needed. Not quite what I would say forย Vous N’Aurez Pas Ma Haine orย Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race, but then again: those did have that effect on me where it made me go: “oh, I guess everything’s different now”.

All in all, February proved itself to be both a very varied, and very pleasant reading month – I’m kind of looking forward to what March will bring me in that aspect!

Anyways, what have you been reading this past month? Be sure to leave me your recommendations below!
